Learning and Creativity

Rediscover your Powers
Maximize your Potential

For most of us (especially accomplished folks), the key to unlocking maximal creativity and learning capacity is cultivating Child's Mind/Beginner's Mind.

A means for restoring Child’s Mind/Beginner’s Mind, that is safe and enjoyable – and may even be profoundly healing – is the combination of low-dose psychedelics (such as psilocybin and/or cannabis), somatic work (yoga), and collaborative, playful challenges provided by a master educator.

Psychedelics

Many psychedelics have been found to increase “neuroplasticity,” which is the physical capacity of the brain to make new wirings – new connections, associations, inventions.  These substances, generally very low in toxicity, induce a period of increased learning capacity.  Anecdotally, folks in countless creative  fields have benefited from the practice of “micro-dosing.”

Somatic Work

An obstacle to learning is anxiety, and anxiety may be a side-effect of psychedelic use.  Gentle yoga asanas and pranayama (breath practices) work to balance the body, breath, and mind so that the increased creative energy unlocked by a psychedelic does not veer into anxiety, but instead is available as creative power.

Collaborative Problem-Solving

There is no better way to boost the creativity of humans, of any age and whatever their goals, than by giving them meaningful challenges to solve through collaboration.  Motivation is improved and learning is accelerated.

The Upaya Method

A unique approach to learning.
Balancing science and ancient wisdom.
Balancing reason and intuition.

Balancing body, breath, and mind.
Integrating wellbeing and creative flow.
Integrating learning and joy.

My workshops include:

Gentle somatic practices to build and balance energy, to unleash creative flow and allow deep relaxation.

Discussions to integrate learning experiences that are hard/impossible to grasp with the rational mind.

Games, challenges, activities to stimulate all parts of the brain!

An emphasis on collaboration.

Healthy and delicious food and drink, and (where applicable) supplements.

These workshops, for groups of Science and Math teachers, did not employ psychedelics, but did include somatic work and creative problem-solving, with spectacular results!
